Like many guests that come into the salon I have fine hair that has been compromised due to colour and heat damage. Recently I have found some amazing tricks that have worked for me while growing out my brittle hair.
Firstly my best advice is not to hold onto hair that is already dead. What I mean by that is by getting regular trims. Your hair will actually grow faster as your split ends won’t continue to split further up your hair shaft making more of your hair look and feel unhealthy.
Secondly for split ends that have already moved further up the hair shaft, our salon has an amazing tool called the Split Ender. This tool is great for people wanting to grow out their hair without losing length. What this tool does is flip up individual split ends and just remove what has split so you lose the split ends while still maintaining length.
Lastly what has helped me most is finding products that help to rehydrate and bring my hair back to life. My go to products for brittle damaged hair are from the Redken Extreme Collection.
All the Redken shampoos and conditioners have a protein complex that actually creates an outer layer over your hair stands to solidify broken strands. After using the Extreme Shampoo and Extreme Conditioner just once my hair felt brand new. No longer was my hair snapping every time I ran my fingers through it. Also making sure I added a heat protection to my styling routine to make sure my hair remains healthy without having to stop heat styling my brittle hair. I hope this information helps anyone suffering and frustrated the same ways I was with my own hair!
